There a several ways you can cook or prepare baby food to make it ready for consumption. Babies can't really handle raw fruits and veggies until they are at least 8 months old or so. It is very important to cook them before pureeing until they reach that age. Here are some options:
1. Steam: This is often one of the best options. Steaming veggies and fruits helps to keep the nutrients pretty much fully intact.
2. Bake: Baking vegetables and fruits is also a very good and easy option. Baking doesn't destroy a lot of nutrients and it helps bring the sweet flavors out in fruits.
3. Roast: Roasting is a lot like baking. This is good for when you want some flavors to mix like meat and veggies or several veggies or veggies and fruits, etc. You can do this in the oven or even a crock pot.
4. Boil: Boiling isn't as good of an option as the others. It doesn't keep as much of the good stuff intact as the other ways do.
5. Blanch
You shouldn't really grill baby food because it can be bad for the babies due to carcinogens. So, if for some reason you accidentally burn fruits or veggies while roasting be sure to remove the burnt parts from the mixture before you puree it.
